Adult Learning Centre-Literacy North Halton held its 5th annual Scrabble® for Literacy event on January 29th, 2018 at the Georgetown Branch of the Halton Hills Public Library.  Our dedicated players and our wonderful MC for the evening, Shan Abbasi, and his team trekked through the snowy evening to make it a great success!

We truly appreciate the commitment of our event title sponsor, Maple Lodge Farms Foundation, to adult literacy awareness and Literacy North Halton programs, services, and adult learners.  To all of the players who made donations and worked hard to request donation pledges from friends, family and co-workers, we thank you for supporting adults in our community who are striving to reach their literacy goals.  Also we thank our community partner, the Halton Hills Public Library for all that they do to support literacy.

There was some serious Scrabble® competition for experts and beginners alike, as players were vying to have the highest scoring 5-letter word, the highest scoring “J” word, and like true Canadians, the “best” hockey word!  The grand prizes, went to our player with the highest total score after 3 rounds, and to our player who had the highest amount in donation pledges.  We also acknowledged a player, who has attended all 5 LNH Scrabble® for Literacy events.  Many, many thanks to all who attended and all who donated this year!  We look forward to seeing you next year.
